Papua New Guinea has approximately two million Roman Catholic adherents, approximately 27% of the country's total population. The country is divided into nineteen dioceses including four archdioceses. In 1995, Pope John Paul II declared Peter To Rot, a catechist and New Guinea native blessed for his martyrdom when in 1945 he refused to embrace polygamy and was killed by occupying Japanese forces.

The Catholic Bishop's Conference of Bangladesh, founded in 1971, is the General Body of the Ordinaries of Bangladesh. The purpose of this Conference is to facilitate common policy and action in matters that affect or are liable to affect the interest of the Catholic Church in Bangladesh and to be of service to the country at large. Pope John Paul II visited Dhaka in November 1986. Bangladesh is a predominantly Muslim country, but relations between the communities are generally quite good, but there are sporadic incidences of violence against Christians such as a bomb attack on a Catholic church in 2001.
