Why is there so much obsession with the occult and the macabre among young people nowadays?

Question by arcticwolf71960: Why is there so much obsession with the occult and the macabre among young people nowadays?

They delve into witchcraft and satanism. They watch horror movies (which are more violent than ever), and they visit websites that feature pictures of human corpses (accident victims with their entrails hanging out, decapitations, etc.) Many of them are into self-mutilation and even ponder
ways to commit suicide. There are little children in school who even play choking games for a cheap thrill. What's going on with people? Have they all gone mad?

Answer by The Doors of Perception
Horror movies, chocking games, corpses, etc. have NOTHING to do with witchcraft. Neither does self mutilation. The body is a temple and is needed for magick therefore should not be harmed. Only one kind of Satanism I know of is like that and that is Joy of Satanism and similar poser pseudo satanism groups. Theses people are not real Satanists. Those occult practices are outdated just like the murder of witches and pagans commanded in the bible. It is out of date! If people practice it then they are not in the right state of mind.

Now there ARE less 'civilized' cultures out there especially in Africa that do plenty of self mutilation. These groups cannot be compared to the occultist of today however. They are practicing ancient rituals. Suicide is against ALL forms of witchcraft and Satanism. Satanism is either (more commonly) LaVeyan self worship or devotion to a god that the Church perverted into Satan. Either wway life is important. With witchcraft, you have to be alive to practice it, don't you.

Addition:

There are four kinds of Satanists. LaVeyan, Theistic/Spiritual, Devil worshipers, and pseudo satanist. If you are just trying to be cool, like you said, don't do it. There is no point to following a religion just to look cool.

LaVeyan Satanism
This is atheistic. They see Satan as a symbol. The the torah, "Satan" means the adversary. LaVeyan Satanism challenges the status quo. They do not believe Satan is an actual being. He is a symbol to them that represents different things.
1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!

2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!

3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!

4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!

5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!

6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!

7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!

8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!

9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!

The basic philosophies LaVey came up with is very good. But he was a power hungry, sell out fraud. Most of his 'history' about Satan is fake. Baphomet was NOT worshiped as Satan, the yezids do NOT worship Satan, and the Al-Jiwah is NOT the black book of Satan. Decent philosophy, scam religion.

Theistic/Spiritual Satanism is what Joy of Satan is but they are a bad example. They encourage Nazism and a self mutilation ritual to give your soul to Satan. Once again, most of their 'history' is false to make you believe more. In this case, the deity/deities being worshiped is not the Christian Satan. They believe the god is the true creator god. usually polytheistic, they believe either that the creator god was perverted into Satan or that Jehovah stole the true creator's credit. They use god's evil acts in the bible to show he is not who he claims to be.

Devil Worshipers are extremely rare. They worship the Christian Satan. They believe god is ALL forgiving and Satan is ruler of this world. So, they feel they have to please Satan. This can be done through self mutilation, vandalism, and in extreme rare cases even animal sacrifice. Nothing like Satanic Ritual Abuse though. Much more real. If they do not please Satan they fear they will go to hell.

Last, Pseudo Satanists are just posers. They have really no religious connection to any kind of Satanism. They just get off on trying to scare people with carving pentagrams into churches and stuff.

These are the facts. If you do not like what I have to say because the bible says it is evil or whatever then believe what you want.

That's the type of field where 'experience' will be the real advanced degree you can earn. With event planning you just need to dive in head first to make waves in the industry.

Cities have much more 'events' than suburban areas. They're endless. Birthday parties, weddings, golf outings, charity blood drives, grassroots marketing campaigns... the list is endless. But, they all require an ability to multi-task, plan effectively, delegate responsibility, and communicate under stress.

Also, certain industries are more conducive to the need for event planning. Industries that have heavy exposure to the communities in which they work are the most likely... Banks, Hospitals, local parks and recreation programs, and large corporations, will pay to have somebody manage their events - either in house, or on a contract basis.

You might also consider starting your own company. If you can find an engaged couple, sell yourself as a wedding planner, and work on a bare-bones budget. During the process you'll have to forge strong relationships with the DJ or Band, caterers, florist, photographers, and maybe even travel agent. Those relationships will benefit you if you do a good job and have another client referred in your direction.

The Christian East and the Rise of the Papacy: The Church 1071-1453 A.D (Church History, Vol 4)

Includes photos and index. Almost without exception, the "histories of the Church" available in print are, in fact, histories of Christianity in the West. References to the East have been brief and superficial at best. This volume - the fourth in a planned series of six and the second to appear - attempts to achieve a more balanced approach. Intended not only for students but also for a wider readership, The Christian East and the Rise of the Papacy describes developments in the churches of East and West in the High Middle Ages. It examines major western movements, such as the revolutionary Reform Papacy, the crusades, scholasticism, and concilarism, and discusses their impact on the East. It explores the theological and spiritual currents spreading from Byzantium to the Orthodox Churches of the Balkans and Rus', which helped to maintain the identity and unity of the "Byzantine Commonwealth" even as the empire itself crumbled. It also presents the little-known story of the native Eastern Churches of Egypt, Ethiopia, Syria, Armenia, and Georgia. In the process, it exposes the many factors which contributed to Christian disunity in the Middle Ages and which made even attempts at reunion divisive. The volume therefore will challenge and stimulate not only church historians but also all who are concerned about issues of Christian unity today.Widely hailed for its fairness, objectivity, and sympathy, it too attempts to provide a comprehensive presentation of Christian history, from Ireland to the Indian Ocean, from Germany to Nubia.
